Welcome to our new discussion forums. We realized that many of you have a lot to say. And now, you have a new and improved place to say it. There may not be many posts yet, but hey--these forums are brand new, so what did you expect? So go ahead and start discussing a topic.

You'll find two forum categories (1) SARIAYA.net, (2) General discussions; and several sections (folders) for various themes. From time to time, we add new folders to both forums. Feel free to suggest a new one yourself! Our Sariaya Forum is by no means limited to the above discussions, and we welcome any ideas as food for thought: the worst that could happen is that the editors decide not to post it. Oh, well! You can't say you didn't try — unless you didn't even write!

Whichever topic you choose, in order to enjoy either forum's features, you'll need to become a member. SARIAYA.net membership is free and includes further benefits such as a free email address etc. You can also visit our forums as a read-only guest, but you'll want to sign up right away for full access. Just click on SARIAYA.NET->Register at the top of this page or any other page to register.

Your guide and the forum hosts, led by our admin Mr. Jubert Reyes, will be happy to help you with any questions you may have. Of course, our forum members are also ready to share information. It all adds up to a wonderful resource for anyone – Sariayahin or just visiting our town. See you there!

Sariaya Church

The town of Sariaya had its simple beginning almost four hundred years ago in a place near the sea, what is now called the Barangay of Castañas. The first inhabitants of the place where the hardy and brown fishermen and who upon the arrival of the Franciscan Friars were the first converts. With the help of the early inhabitants, who are mostly fishermen, the Franciscan Missionaries were able to build a church, entrusted under the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi. Because the fishing village was often attacked by the Moros, the people moved northward of Castañas and settled in this place. About three kilometres from this second site, the people once again settled in another place which at present bear the name known as Barangay Tumbaga, also known as Lumang Bayan. A church and convent were erected at Tumbaga as a proof of their religious interest and filial regard to their spiritual mentors, the Franciscan friars.
